It is very typical for people to consider buying life insurance when they are about to have their own family. This is why many women leave a life insurance policy until they are pregnant and is about to have her first child. What most of you don’t know, several insurance companies are reticent in covering an already pregnant woman as they are more prone to many complications during the nine months of pregnancy.
Oftentimes, insurance providers will advise the mother to wait until her baby is three to six months old before trying to get cover. If a pregnant woman has managed to get life insurance cover, she can expect to pay up to 50% more on her premiums. If a first pregnancy has shown signs of complications, then insurance cover whilst pregnant for a second time is improbable.
So technically speaking, it is definitely more practical for all women to take out a life insurance policy before getting pregnant. After the event however, always be truthful in declaring medical history as it plays a big part in making claims. Should the insurance company find out that you have given them false information, you won’t receive any compensation at all.
