How many times have you heard that 47 million Americans do not have health insurance?  Perhaps you’ve lost count already.  But the reason why you hear it over and over again is because it truly is a pressing issue in the United States.  If you do not have a health insurance policy yet, you might want to help resolve the issue about by getting one now.

It’s very risky to live without health insurance, as illness comes at a time you least expect it.  Expensive hospital bills will leave you bankrupt and struggling for the rest of your life.  So before that happens, get a health insurance policy now.

But if you do have a health insurance policy already, you can just read on these popular options for fixing the problem.

1. Individuals will be responsible for buying their own health insurance. This idea could work, but as you can imagine many people will be against paying for their own coverage. If this fix is going to be implemented, many changes will have to be made to the health care industry as a whole. It appears that Republican John McCain favors this sort of plan. He believes that offering tax credits to individuals and families will allow them to purchase health insurance when not receiving coverage through an employer.

2. Every business should supply health insurance coverage to employees. Many feel that this is the best idea, but once again, some companies are sure to put up a fight unless the government makes it worth their while from a financial point of view.

3. The government should offer health insurance coverage to all Americans. This is more or less a universal system. Although some democrats, including Hillary Clinton, are in favor of this idea, there are obviously some issues that would have to be worked out.
