In the last surprising move made by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield last October, affected families have observed that their premiums increased about 78 percent since the amendment. This change is in connection to the insurance company’s decision to stop funding for some families in the Pennsylvania Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The insurance company no longer subsidize care for children in families whose incomes fall between 200 percent and 300 percent of federal poverty guidelines.
