In a press conference held last Tuesday, Medco Health Solutions Inc. and Coventry Health Care Inc. have announced that they will team up to see if they can lower health care costs for senior citizens by addressing factors like home safety, diet and medication use. The companies have enthusiastically shared their plans which include conducting a study that would determine if they can reduce hospitalizations for seniors on Medicare.

It seems that the health care industry doesn’t run out of dilemma that it produces bad news for the public almost everyday. In a recent report, it says that Ohio’s children’s hospitals, along with others across the nation, is about to lose its $876.6 million government funding over the next decade if Congress doesn’t amend the planned health-care legislation.

“It could be a disaster,” said Shawn Lyden, executive vice president for Akron Children’s Hospital. “I think there’s either a fundamental lack of understanding or a misconception in Washington around what this means for children’s hospitals.”

Based on a report, more than 135,000 children in Nevada currently have no health coverage. Now that the government’s COBRA subsidy program just expired, expect that this figure will continue to increase everyday.

“I’m a mom and these are my kids and I think the one thing all parents fear most is not being able to take care of them the way they need to be taken care of,” said Hope Vivas, resident of Nevada State.
